Actress Phylicia Rashad and AMIkids Team Up to Help America's Disenfranchised Youth

TAMPA, FL--(Marketwired - Nov 4, 2015) - Tony award-winning actress Phylicia Rashad is leveraging her star power to tell as many people as possible about the work of AMIkids, a non-profit organization that helps young people to realize their potential and transform their lives. Rashad conducted a national press event to discuss the success of AMIkids and to explain why its mission is so important.

AMIkids works with thousands of young people across the country who are struggling to develop a path to a good job, home and family. AMIkids' staff creates a family environment while working to improve the education and strengthen the emotional foundation of these young people, providing them with the tools they need for success.

"Young people enter AMIkids unable to see that they have a future," Rashad said. "AMIkids gives them a window to discover their potential so that they can become who they were meant to be."

Graduates of the AMIkids program have a 77% success rate. This is three times better than those young people coming out of institutions. With over forty programs in nine states, its costs average less than one-third of the costs of incarceration.

Rashad is passionate about the mission of AMIkids, but she cites its results as one thing that sets the organization apart from so many others. "Success of the young people in these programs is a success for all of us," says Rashad. "This is an organization deserving of our support and I urge everyone to get involved."
