ACWA Presents Emissary Award to Paul Bartkiewicz

Longtime Water Leader Recognized for Contributions to Association

INDIAN WELLS, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 2, 2015) - The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) today presented its tenth annual Emissary Award to Paul Bartkiewicz, a longtime water leader known for his stewardship on California water resources and his commitment to sustainability. Presented at ACWA's 2015 Fall Conference & Exhibition in Indian Wells, the award recognizes individuals for remarkable contributions to California water through voluntary service to ACWA.

"Paul Bartkiewicz has a long record of leadership on some of the most critical issues facing California water," said ACWA President John Coleman. "His contributions to California water policy are immeasurable. In the last two decades, nearly every ACWA policy initiative involved Paul working hand in hand with ACWA members, lending his expertise."

Bartkiewicz has a long record of service and leadership through ACWA's State Legislative Committee. As chair of the committee, he has guided ACWA's engagement on some of the most important legislation in recent times -- including the 2014 water bond, the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act of 2014, the 2009 legislative package on water and numerous other measures.

In addition, Bartkiewicz has been a major contributor to ACWA policy initiatives of lasting statewide importance -- including the ACWA Blueprint, the Water Finance Task Force, the Water Marketing Policy Task Force, the Statewide Water Action Plan and others.

Bartkiewicz is a founding partner in the law firm of Bartkiewicz, Kronick & Shanahan in Sacramento, which practices exclusively in the areas of water rights and public agency representation.

ACWA is a statewide association of public agencies whose 440 members are responsible for about 90% of the water delivered in California. For more information, visit www.acwa.com.
