ACWA Statement on Field Poll Showing Californians Plan to Continue Conserving Water Even After the Drought

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwired - April 14, 2016) - Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) Executive Director Timothy Quinn issued the following statement today regarding a new Field Poll, conducted in partnership with Save Our Water, which shows an overwhelming majority of Californians plan to continue using less water even after the current drought is over.

  • "ACWA applauds Save Our Water and the many local water agencies that have worked diligently to educate and motivate Californians to use water resources wisely. Californians in every corner of the state have heard the conservation message loud and clear and are responding appropriately.
  • "With 86% of Californians saying they will continue to conserve even after the drought ends, this polling makes it clear that Californians have turned the corner. They are making permanent changes to reduce water use both indoors and outdoors.
  • "ACWA and its members will continue to educate the public on the importance of using less water as part of the California lifestyle and encourage conservation based on what makes sense locally."

ACWA is a statewide association of public agencies whose 430+ members are responsible for about 90% of the water delivered in California. For more information, visit www.acwa.com. ACWA also manages Save Our Water -- the state's official water conservation outreach program -- in partnership with the California Department of Water Resources.
