The Calgary Ad Rodeo Association celebrates the 2012 Anvil Award entries at a special showcase event on Thursday, April 12 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Gerry Thomas Gallery. Each year, dozens of local agencies submit their best work in hopes of winning a prestigious Anvil Award. An Anvil Award recognizes the best advertising work within Calgary and contributes towards an agency's ranking on an international level.

"Calgary needs events like this to keep quality of design competitive and leading edge," says Ad Rodeo President, Rob Fairhead. "The Anvil Awards celebrate winners every year, but it's important to know what the competition creates to ensure Calgary continues to push innovative design solutions. The advertising community - and Calgary, should have more of these opportunities to celebrate the creative work that comes out of this city."

The 2012 Anvil Award submissions have already been judged by internationally acclaimed creative leads, such as Hjalti Karlsson from boutique New York design studio KarlssonWilker Inc, and Anthony Chelvanathan who is the Group Creative Director for Leo Burnett Toronto and Strategy Magazine's top-ranked art director for 2012. The winners will be revealed at the Anvil Awards Gala on April 27, 2012. Tickets sales and last year's winners can be found on the Ad Rodeo website.

Open to the public, the 2012 Anvil Awards Creative Entry Showcase event will display over 300 entries from over a dozen of Calgary's advertising, design and digital agencies. The event will give local industry creatives the opportunity to not only network and connect, but also judge their own work against other leading agencies. The showcase aims to inspire advertising creatives - giving them new momentum to elevate their submissions for next year, and to keep the industry competitive and innovative.

With live music performed by local jazz songstress Deane Matley and fresh food samplings from Anju Restaurant, it promises to be an evening meant to entertain, dazzle and delight. Tickets are just $20 online through the Ad Rodeo website, or $25 at the door.

Local media are encouraged to attend to learn more about Calgary's advertising industry, the awards show and the Ad Rodeo Association. More details about this event, the Anvil Awards Gala, upcoming events, and the Association can be found at
