Adaptec Names Marc Lowe Vice President and General Manager

Lowe Returns to Adaptec to Lead Storage Components Division

MILPITAS, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 13, 2005 -- Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADPT), a global leader in storage solutions, today announced that it has appointed Marc Lowe vice president and general manager of its storage components division. Most recently, Lowe was a managing partner at Praxis Ventures, an executive consultancy focused on high potential startup companies. His firm has provided venture financing, strategic planning, interim CEO, and M&A advisory services, to more than thirty early and mid-stage companies.

The Adaptec organization is made up of two major business units: storage components and storage systems. Along with Lowe's appointment to the storage components division, Eric Kelly was recently named vice president and general manager of the storage systems and solutions division. Previously, Kelly held the position of executive vice president of worldwide sales and services at Adaptec. Kelly originally joined the company in June, 2004 with the acquisition of Snap Appliance, where he had served as president and CEO.

The appointment of Lowe marks his return to Adaptec. He had previously served at the company for seven years as the general manager for the SCSI business group and later the Fibre Channel products group. More recently, Lowe was the president and CEO of New Moon Systems Inc., a server management software startup that was acquired by Tarantella Inc.
