AdaptivCool to Unveil New Data Center Hotspot Elimination Tool at The Uptime Institute Symposium 2010

The Compressed HT-510 Installs in Less Than Thirty Minutes and Eliminates Hotspots in One to Three Racks

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - May 17, 2010) -  AdaptivCool, the data center thermal management and cooling division of Degree Controls, Inc. (DegreeC), today announced major enhancements to its data center hotspot elimination product line. The new HT-510 will be released officially this week during The Uptime Institute Symposium 2010 at the Hilton New York, May 17-19.

AdaptivCool's HotSpotr HT-510 is an intelligent fan-assisted floor tile. The HT-510 works by creating a bubble of cold air in front of hot racks in a data center, thereby supplying cold air to servers and avoiding hot air recirculation. This cold air bubble is largely maintained even under a CRAC failure condition. By eradicating hotspots, HotSpotr virtually eliminates equipment failure due to overheating, and therefore increases computer uptime and reduces the need to spend money on additional CRACs.

The HotSpotr HT-510:

  • Maintains cold air supply to server racks
  • Modulates the cold bubble in front of the rack using a temperature-based fan speed control
  • Installs easily and provides instant results
  • Fits standard 24-inch tile slot
  • Features a flat flow-front and eight fans for redundancy
  • Perfectly manages air pressure in contained cold-aisle
  • Uses less vertical space under the raised floor thanks to compressed design
  • Includes Emergency Power Off (EPO) that can be connected to a building's emergency circuit
  • Contains dry-contact alarm that reports problems to a central monitor
  • Operates on a universal AC input of 100-240 volts
  • Comes pre-wired for Demand-Based Cooling system

The HotSpotr HT-510 has performed well during early customer field trials and is available for immediate shipment.

AdaptivCool will provide a live demonstration at booth #605.

"With years of development and customer field trials under its belt, the HT-510 is our most advanced hotspot-reduction tool yet for both open- and closed-aisle data centers," said Rajesh Nair, AdaptivCool's General Manager.

In addition to the under-floor HT-510, AdaptivCool offers overhead air management systems that return hot air to CRACs.

AdaptivCool's HotSpotr line provides a cost-effective way for data center and facility managers to remove troublesome hot spots instantly and increase the life of their mission critical equipment.

About AdaptivCool

AdaptivCool is the data center division of Milford, NH-based Degree Controls, Inc. AdaptivCool's flagship technology, Demand-Based Cooling, uses temperature sensors to send information to a sophisticated Cooling Resource Manager that calculates minute-by-minute cooling demand and controls data center airflow dynamically via floor- and ceiling-mounted air movers, reducing electrical consumption for data center cooling by up to thirty percent. AdaptivCool's consulting services provide data center and IT managers with the tools necessary to ensure Thermal Peace of Mind™ in the data center. Services include Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis, energy and thermal monitoring, as well as general best practices to help data centers achieve maximum efficiency.
