Adapx Announces New Utilities Customers and Showcase at 2011 DistribuTECH Conference & Exhibition

Capturx Helps Pepco's Atlantic City Electric Streamline Field Inspections and Reporting Using Digital Pens

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - February 1, 2011) - Adapx, the company that is changing the way mobile teams collect data and collaborate, today announced that Pepco Holding's Atlantic City Electric subsidiary has adopted Capturx utilities solutions for digital pens to automate field inspections and reporting. The announcement was made at the DistribuTECH Conference & Exhibition in San Diego, where Capturx solutions are being showcased to attendees from February 1st-3rd. Many utilities are facing increasing pressure to maintain high levels of service and reliability to customers while also improving workforce productivity and compliance documentation. Capturx helps utilities streamline their field paperwork and reporting with digital pens, which provide real-time data access and visibility to field operations without the costs and delays of sending paper, scanning, and manual data entry.

"Atlantic City Electric's large distributed power network is managed by teams of engineers and service crews, generating a great deal of paperwork," said Steve Brown, Manager of Safety Services with Atlantic City Electric. "Capturx helps us efficiently automate the paperwork so we can focus on providing safe and reliable electric service to our 547,000 customers." Atlantic City Electric is part of Pepco Holdings, Inc., one of the largest energy delivery companies in the Mid-Atlantic region, serving about 1.9 million customers in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, and New Jersey.

Capturx is used by leading utilities, such as Pepco, Burbank Water and Power, and American Transmission Company, to automate field data capture for grid inspections, service, and safety reporting. Data captured on the Bluetooth-enabled digital pens can be transmitted immediately from the field to central offices using cell phones or USB connections with PCs and laptops. Handwritten data on paper forms is automatically integrated into Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, SQL and other back-end systems, where it is available in the original handwriting and as converted digital data for immediate analysis and reporting. Redline as-built markups on printed substation plans are automatically integrated into the original PDF files for faster issue reporting and CAD updates. Data collected on paper maps is automatically integrated into ArcGIS, complete with accurate location tracking and geodatabase feature classification.

"By eliminating unnecessary data entry, scanning, and risk from paper handling, Capturx makes it easy for utilities to streamline field inspections and reporting for teams," said Ken Schneider, CEO of Adapx. "Teams can get instant digital data access using their existing reliable paper-based processes, without the extra cost and complexity of mobile computers, training, and support."

Attendees of the 2011 DistribuTECH Conference & Exhibition, in San Diego on February 1st, can experience a hands-on demo at the Adapx Booth# 2315.
