ADCOLE Camshaft Measuring Provides Repeatable Surface Finish Results

MARLBOROUGH, MA--(Marketwire - Mar 6, 2012) - ADCOLE Corporation has upgraded their automatic surface finish gage for crankshafts and camshafts. This high-precision surface roughness measuring machine provides rapid operation with fully repeatable measurement results.

The ADCOLE Model 1000 Surface Finish Gage is an automatic camshaft and crankshaft surface roughness machine that lets an operator load a part, press one button, and have all surface measurements done in one sequence. Providing highly repeatable results, it can measure roughness parameters such as Ra, Rp, Tp, and Rsk on main and rod journals and thrust faces.

Upgraded with GE Fanuc® motion controls and Allen-Bradley components, the ADCOLE Model 1000 Surface Finish Gage utilizes three variable reluctance pickups, each having a 5 micron diamond stylus, and they are capable of scanning 2,000 points per mm. Running on the familiar Windows® platform, average cycle time is six minutes and various report outputs are offered.

The ADCOLE Model 1000 Surface Finish Gage is priced from $180,000.00. Literature and price quotations are available upon request.

About ADCOLE Corporation

Adcole Corporation is the global center of expertise for designing and manufacturing the world's highest accuracy machines for measuring camshafts, crankshafts and pistons, as well as digital sun angle sensors for space satellites. No other company can better measure critically important reciprocating engine components or the angle to the sun.

Founded in 1957, Adcole has manufacturing facilities in both Massachusetts and Florida and offices across the world, maintaining close relationships with their customers. The company's success, to a large extent, is based upon responding to their customers' requests for further refinements based upon their real-world experience. Most of these refinements have dealt with the need for higher accuracy and the need to measure more parameters including radius, profile, taper, crown, timing angle, diameter, velocity, acceleration, runout, and roundness and concentricity.

Today, more than 500 automobile and supplier companies worldwide employ Adcole computerized inspection gages for quality control checks on camshafts and crankshafts. These companies include General Motors, Ford, ThyssenKrupp, VW, Chrysler, Toyota, Fiat, Nissan, Renault, Hyundai, Volvo, Suzuki, Caterpillar, Daimler, BMW, Honda, Cummins, FAW, Tata, MAN, John Deere, SAIC, FAW, and Dong Feng.
