Adele Breaks Records at hmv Canada

Adele's Long Awaited Album '25' Landed In-Store With a Bang

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - December 02, 2015) - Following a successful new release Friday hmv Canada, the country's premiere destination for music and entertainment, reports its biggest single CD first day sales this decade. Adele's long awaited album '25' landed in-stores with a bang, with CD and LP sales breaking records in the first weekend, reporting one is every four units sold in a hmv Canada location across the country.

"Adele's new album not only exceeded expectations, it is the biggest physical album release in my time at hmv Canada," said Nick Williams President and CEO, hmv Canada. "Releases like this re-ignited the passion we all feel as music fans and helps us remember why we started listening to records in the first place."

The British Pop Star broke Canadian records by selling the most physical units in a single day, and debut weekend, once held by Celine Dion. As well as Adele's "25," this month has seen momentous new releases from other pop-stars such as Justin Bieber and One Direction and music fans can look forward to additional blockbuster releases from Coldplay, Rihanna, and Bruno Mars in the coming months.

As the holiday shopping season continues, customers can expect the best value in music and movies including new releases and back catalogue as well as entertainment products, including apparel, headphones, vinyl, and gift and collectables.
