Adlucent Adds Innovative Employee Benefits to Their Balanced Life Program

Adlucent Joins a Few Pioneering Companies Addressing the Issues of Unlimited Vacation

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - November 11, 2013) - Today, Adlucent launched two programs under the umbrella of the company's Balanced Life Program. The first benefit is Balance Days, which replaces its traditional vacation and sick policies. The second is a New Parent Leave and Support Program which significantly sweetens the usual FMLA leave and short-term disability benefits that usually accompanies a birth.

Michael Griffin, CEO and Founder, describes the Balanced Life Program as a natural offshoot of Adlucent's culture. "Our intention is not to have Adlucites [employees] work more hours or less; rather it is meant to reinforce the trust we have in the people we hire to make the right decisions when it comes to balancing their life inclusive of work. This freedom and balanced life approach is a win-win, resulting in happier, healthier and more productive employees, and translates into business results," explained Griffin.

Balance Days is akin to an unlimited vacation policy, but with a unique twist. Critics of unlimited vacation policies have labeled unlimited vacation policies literally "no vacation" policies. One of the hidden downsides of having an unlimited vacation policy is that it can actually discourage taking time off. Through Balance Days, Adlucent joins a few pioneering companies addressing this issue head-on with their "getaway grant," which offers $1,000 for those Adlucites who take off five consecutive days.

Brian Vogel, Adlucent's Head Coach of People & Culture, explains, "The purpose of the grant is to curb the trend in the United States of employees not taking enough time off to truly recharge. Research has indicated a 25% lift in productivity occurs after a real vacation." Vogel added a secondary reason for the grant is to curtail the counter-intuitive yet common occurrence with unlimited vacation policies wherein employees take even less time off.

In addition to introducing Balance Days, Adlucent also announced "The New Parent Leave and Support Program." Rather than paid leave, from which payout varies based on salary, Adlucent offers all new parents a $10,000 bonus. "We want to celebrate and invest in our team members. Giving them support and freedom to focus on the health of their families is a priority," Griffin states.

These two new perks and the company's Balanced Life Program increase the clout of the company's already stand-out culture, which was recognized by Advertising Age as one the industry's Top Workplaces. Given the flexible work hours, fully-stocked kitchen and espresso bar, rooftop deck with hammock, casual dress, wellness program and Austin-friendly work environment, the company has long been the envy of the Austin tech community and recognized as an employer of choice. Vogel sums it up, "Our viewpoint is that these investments give us a competitive advantage because in the end it is truly all about the people."
