Adoption of Attack Intelligence in the Enterprise Drives Core Security's Growth in Vulnerability Management

Strong 2014 Results Backed by Record Sales of Core Insight, the Company's Attack Intelligence Solution, and the Continued Growth of Core Impact Pro, Its Market-Leading Penetration Testing Product

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Feb 25, 2015) - Core Security®, a leading provider of attack intelligence solutions, today announced strong 2014 results, highlighted by a 106 percent increase in sales of Core Insight and more than 180 new customers of Core Impact Pro. In addition to an increased demand for attack intelligence solutions, this achievement is largely attributed to continued customer success, industry recognition, product enhancements, leadership in security research, partner program growth and the appointment of two new board members.

Customer Success and Portfolio Growth
Sales of Core Insight, an attack intelligence solution that helps users Think Like an Attacker™ and proactively address security threats, doubled year-over-year in 2014 (106 percent growth). By consolidating, prioritizing and validating vulnerabilities, Core Insight ensures the most critical threats are addressed immediately and no time is wasted on false positives.

The company maintained its established position as a leader in the penetration testing market with strong sales of Core Impact Pro, adding more than 180 new customers to its portfolio of Impact users in 2014.

Core Security continued to experience strong sales in key vertical markets, including critical infrastructure, finance, healthcare and retail. The company saw an increase in sales to the Federal Government and now claims three-quarters of all U.S. government agencies as customers. Core Security also added a number of state government organizations in 2014, including the Department of Taxation of Virginia, the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Vermont Secretary of State.

"We know we can trust Core Security to give us visibility into our true security risk," explained Steve Mattera, IT Manager for the Vermont Secretary of State. "Core has been very successful in helping us reduce our third-party risk by ensuring our technology partners are developing and delivering highly secure solutions."

Industry Recognition
In February, Core Insight received a perfect 5-star rating from SC Magazine. Editors cited the vulnerability management platform's ease-of-use, "gorgeous dashboard" and "excellent value for the money" among the reasons Insight is categorized as a "Recommended" tool. Editors found no weaknesses in the product.

In October, the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services received a CSO50 Award from CSO Magazine for its work with Core Insight. Each year, this award program recognizes 50 security projects and initiatives that have delivered groundbreaking business value through the innovative application of risk and security concepts and technologies.

In November, Core Insight won Information Security Magazine and SearchSecurity.com Readers' Choice Award, coming out on top in the "Best Vulnerability Management Products" category. Award winners in each category were selected based on an extensive, in-depth survey of more than 1,700 information security executives and managers.

Product Enhancements
In September, Core Security released Core Insight 4.0 and Core Impact Pro 2014 R2. Updates included expanded and configurable attack path planning, distributed penetration testing, and protection against IoT and BYOD threats with enhancements to two major vectors: mobile and Wi-Fi.

Leadership in Security Research
In 2014, CoreLabs published 11 vulnerability advisories. This research is conducted by CoreLabs in an effort to expose security gaps before adversaries find them. Upon discovering a vulnerability, the lab works with the affected organization and, in critical cases, with the U.S. Computer Emergency Readiness Team (CERT) to find a solution. The process is one example of how the ability to Think Like an Attacker™ is essential to staying ahead of hackers and protecting critical business assets.

In October, Core Security published its Threat and Vulnerability Management (TVM) Maturity Model, which offers a clear roadmap for organizations looking to improve overall security posture by advancing their TVM programs.

Partner Program Growth
Partner-originated business in North America increased by more than 300 percent year-over-year as Core Security continued to invest in its indirect sales channel to meet increasing demand for its products. Core Security gained significant traction in the Middle East market through its successful partnership with StarLink, signing on many prominent companies in the region (e.g. Dubai Air Navigation Services, Mobily and Eskan Bank). The company also expanded its Asia Pacific presence with the addition of E-SPIN and Nihon Cornet Technology K.K. Other companies that joined the Core Secured® partner program in 2014 include Axxum Technologies, Carahsoft, ICSynergy, Intrinium, iSecure, MSPStream, NuHarbor Consulting, Singular Security, The Compliancy Group, Thundercat Technology and 3PAS.

New Board Members
Core Security added two new Board members, Steve Munford and Alfred Huger, in 2014. Munford is currently the non-executive chairman at Sophos, having served as CEO from 2006 to 2012. Huger is the vice president of development at Cisco Sourcefire.
