Adoption Council of Canada's AdoptWalk: This Sunday!

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 24, 2010) - The Adoption Council of Canada (ACC) and the Adoption Council of Ontario (ACO) are in the final stages of preparation for the second annual AdoptWalk, which brings together the Canadian adoption community. The AdoptWalk in Toronto is set for Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Riverdale Park West. To learn more about the event, and to register, please visit and click "Join the Walk!".

The second annual AdoptWalk promises to be a day of fun, laughter, and making connections. Every child will enjoy our penny carnival games and prizes – face painting, crafts, treasure hunts, etc. The barbeque will go all day and the DJ will keep us dancing. Each registrant gets a t-shirt, meal tickets, and children get 15 game tickets to get them started on the fun! Remember this year's game theme is Princesses and Pirates so expect a few surprises.

Together with participants, sponsors, and walkers, we're raising funds for the ongoing development and implementation of adoption programs and services that are desperately needed across the country. With 80,000 children and youth in foster care and nearly 6 million Canadians touched by adoption, our event can pave the way for change.

Corporations, including media, are invited and encouraged to participate and to register as teams. More than ever, ACC and ACO need the support of everyone. So, get your walking shoes ready!

About the Adoption Council of Canada (ACC)

The ACC is the national information and referral service for adoption in Canada. Based in Ottawa, the ACC raises public awareness of adoption, promotes the placement of waiting children and youth, and stresses the importance of post-adoption services. Furthermore, the ACC aims to provide understanding of the benefits and challenges of adoption for children, birth families, and adoptive parents while facilitating communication among all groups and individuals concerned.

About the Adoption Council of Ontario (ACO)

The Adoption Council of Ontario (ACO) is a non-profit charitable organization formed in 1987 by representatives of the adoption community. The ACO Board of Directors and general membership represent all aspects of adoption: birth parents, adoptees, adoptive parents, and adoption professionals from Ontario. The ACO adoption resource centre is supported through memberships, donations and program fees.
