Adorama Announces Fundraiser to Benefit Nepal Recovery

Partnering With The Photo Brigade and AdoramaPIX, Adorama Is Offering 100% of Sales of Selected Professional Prints of Nepal to Charity GlobalGiving

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jun 1, 2015) - Adorama (http://www.adorama.com), one of the world's largest photography, video and audio, imaging and electronics retailers, and The Photo Brigade, both leaders in the photography and photo education communities, have organized a fundraiser in collaboration with AdoramaPIX to aid relief efforts after the catastrophic earthquakes in Nepal.

This special event, called Prints for Nepal, is donating 100% of sales of select images to the non-profit organization GlobalGiving. These images, created by The Photo Brigade founder Robert Caplin and Adorama representative Joshua Wright, showcase the heart and soul of Nepali culture and landscape. From May 28 - June 30, 2015, AdoramaPix will graciously provide their superior printing service to make these images available for purchase.

Images available to support Prints for Nepal can be viewed and purchased by visiting http://www.Adorama.com/PrintsforNepal.

We at Adorama also extend our appreciation to the manufacturers and partners, including Canon, Nikon and Intel, who have graciously donated directly to GlobalGiving in response to the community's call for help.

Recent history
On April 25, 2015, Kathmandu Valley endured a catastrophic earthquake crumbling cherished heritage sites, causing a death toll of more than 7,500 that continues to rise, and displacing hundreds of thousands Nepalis. With the region still enduring very strong tremors, on Tuesday, May 12, another 7.3 quake hit the area about 85 miles to the east, leaving an ever-rising death toll and additional areas of destruction. In some areas, only 5% of homes are habitable. It's been reported that volunteers have also lost their lives helping to provide basic shelter, nutrition and clean water. As the damage is assessed, it is clear that support will be needed well into the future.

Our designated charity
After researching available charitable organizations, Adorama has chosen GlobalGiving for their efficacy of getting funds and supplies into organizations that are deeply rooted in the local communities, positioning themselves to be the most effective in both immediate and long-term response. In addition, GlobalGiving has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, with a 100% score on Accountability and Transparency.

From GlobalGiving:
Initially, the fund will help first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products and shelter. Once initial relief work is complete, this fund will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run by vetted local organizations.

Adorama is not a 501(c)3 organization and purchased prints will not be tax-deductible, however, Adorama is not charging sales tax and is offering free standard shipping for these purchases. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to aid in disaster relief, please give directly to GlobalGiving at http://www.globalgiving.org or a number of other local organizations in Nepal, such as the American Himalayan Foundation, http://www.himalayan-foundation.org.
