adRise Validates Consumer Engagement Opportunities via Connected TV Devices

New adRise Report Points to Significant Opportunities for Content Owners and Advertisers Across Connected TV Devices

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 17, 2013) - adRise, the largest connected TV distribution and monetization platform, today released a new report, based on research commissioned from Nielsen, which reveals opportunities for content owners and advertisers to engage with consumers who are increasingly using connected TV devices to consume TV and film content. The report suggests that content owners and advertisers should be planning to reach an already large and growing group of content viewers and purchasers of goods that are currently not addressable via linear TV.

Nielsen produced the commissioned report based on analysis using data from Nielsen's high-quality cross-platform homes panel and IP addresses from adRise's audience to identify the consumer audiences that are the heaviest users of connected TV devices. The findings identified two key audiences.

  • "Digital Generation," who are typically younger, college educated, high-consumption consumers with average incomes that are more difficult to reach via traditional linear TV. These consumers gravitate to connected devices that are more compatible with their digital-focused lifestyle.
  • "Content Enthusiasts," who are typically older consumers that are more easily reached via linear TV. These consumers are using connected devices to supplement their TV consumption.

The report highlights opportunities for brand advertisers to develop a multi-screen strategy targeting every screen to successfully reach these impactful purchasing groups. The report also underscores how "traditional" TV viewing habits are changing. Specifically, adRise apps are being viewed 33% of the time during primetime TV hours.

"What we're seeing is a dramatic shift in how people consume content, and this study conducted by Nielsen highlights the importance of these emergent markets for content owners and advertisers," said Farhad Massoudi, founder and CEO, adRise. "We carry TV, film, and broadcast content, meaning the future of our content offering will continue to be very expansive and cover all forms: scripted, non-scripted, and all flavors in between."

According to eMarketer, digital TV viewers will cross a critical tipping point in 2014, surpassing 50% of the US Internet user population. "Content owners and advertisers who have embraced a strategy that includes viewers who watch TV using video apps on connected devices, will be well-positioned to capitalize on the opportunities presented by this trend," concluded Massoudi.
