Advance Voting Begins on Friday, March 7, 2008, for Federal By-elections

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 5, 2008) - Advance voting begins Friday for the federal by-elections on Monday, March 17, 2008. Electors who wish to vote before election day may do so on Friday, March 7, Saturday, March 8 and Monday, March 10, 2008. The advance polls are open from noon to 8:00 p.m. (local time) for electors entitled to vote in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River (Saskatchewan), Toronto Centre (Ontario), Vancouver Quadra (British Columbia) and Willowdale (Ontario).

"Canadians may vote during any one of the three advance voting days," stated Marc Mayrand, Chief Electoral Officer of Canada. "If you are not on the list of electors, you may register to vote at your advance polling station, provided you bring official documents that prove your identity and address."

The address of the advance poll where an elector may vote is indicated on the back of the voter information card.

An elector who did not receive his or her voter information card or who received one with incorrect information should contact the local Elections Canada office in his or her electoral district. The office addresses and telephone numbers of returning officers may be obtained at www.elections.ca under the "2008 By-elections" section, or by calling the Voter Information Service at 1-800-463-6868.

Electors who vote in advance may not vote again on election day. It is illegal to vote more than once at an election.

Federal by-elections will be held in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River, Toronto Centre, Vancouver Quadra and Willowdale on Monday, March 17, 2008.
