Advance Voting Begins on Friday, November 17, 2006, for Federal By-elections

OTTAWA, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 15, 2006) - Advance voting begins Friday for the federal by-elections on Monday, November 27, 2006. Electors who wish to vote before election day may do so on Friday, November 17, Saturday, November 18, and Monday, November 20, 2006. The advance polls are open from noon to 8:00 p.m. (local time) for electors entitled to vote in Repentigny (Quebec) and London North Centre (Ontario).

"Canadians may vote during any one of the three advance voting days," stated Jean-Pierre Kingsley, Chief Electoral Officer of Canada. "If you are not already on the list of electors, you may register to vote at your advance polling station, provided you bring official documents that include your name, address and signature."

The address of the advance poll where an elector may vote is indicated on the back of the voter information card.

An elector who did not receive his or her voter information card or who received one with incorrect information should contact the office of the returning officer in his or her electoral district. The office addresses and telephone numbers of returning officers are listed at www.elections.ca in the section By-elections 2006, or may be obtained by calling the Voter Information Service at 1-800-463-6868.

Electors who vote in advance may not vote again on election day. It is illegal to vote more than once at an election.

By-elections will be held in Repentigny and London North Centre on Monday, November 27, 2006.
