Advanced ID Receives Order to Identify Colorado Elk

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - July 21, 2005) - Advanced ID Corporation (OTCBB:AIDO), a complete solutions provider in the radio frequency identification (RFID) and traceability market for the animal industry, will assist the Colorado Department of Agriculture's efforts to eradicate Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) by providing its RFID technology for the identification and trace back of elk.

In Colorado, CWD testing has been required in all domestic elk deaths since 1998. The Colorado Department of Agriculture was the first state to require mandatory surveillance of domestic elk herds for CWD. In addition, Colorado elk ranchers have been required to identify and inventory all domestic elk since July of 1994. There are 97 licensed elk ranches in the state.

Chronic wasting disease is a neurological disease that attacks the brains of infected deer and elk, causing them to become emaciated, display abnormal behavior, lose bodily functions and die. At this time, there is no evidence that CWD is a risk to human health.

Scott Leach, CWD Field Investigator for the Colorado Department of Agriculture, stated, "We have been seeking an RFID system to automate the identification and trace back of elk. In October 2004, we began a trial with low frequency RFID technology but found its short read range and inability to operate reliably around metal, made it an ineffective solution. In June 2005, we participated with officials from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, along with a representative of the USDA, in a demonstration of Advanced ID's ultra high frequency (UHF) technology at the Mountain Ash Elk Ranch in Sandy Creek, New York. We were very impressed and excited about the significant efficiencies this technology can provide us."

"Our requirement to inventory elk on an annual basis has resulted in the injury of some of our herd given the short proximity needed to identify each animal with current technology. We are very interested in Advanced ID's UHF technology which offers significantly longer read ranges to expedite identification and minimize animal stress and injury", commented Dick and Lori Krebs, owners of Mountain Ash Elk Ranch.
