Advanced Power Breaks Ground on Carroll County Energy State-of-Art Electric Generating Facility

CARROLLTON, OH--(Marketwired - Jul 21, 2015) - Advanced Power, developer of the Carroll County Energy project, was joined by government and community leaders and partners for a ceremonial groundbreaking to celebrate the project's start of construction.

Carroll County Energy is a state-of-the-art 700-megawatt combined-cycle natural gas electric generating facility that will sell energy, capacity and ancillary services into the PJM market. An $899 million capital investment, the facility is located 2.5 miles north of Carrollton. The facility will feature two GE 7F.05 gas turbines and a D602 steam turbine which have the capacity to generate electricity for approximately 750,000 homes. Approximately 700 construction jobs will be created during peak construction as well as 21 permanent jobs during operation. The facility is anticipated to be fully operational by December 2017.

Carroll County Energy represents an important step forward in America's transition to cleaner energy production and while maintaining energy independence. The electric generating facility is also expected to be a significant stimulus for the economy of Carroll County and surrounding communities.

"From the beginning of this project, we've enjoyed a very positive partnership with the community, including the Carrollton Exempted Village School District and leaders at the county, municipal and township levels," said Jonathan Winslow, Senior Vice President of Development for Advanced Power. "We have a long-term commitment to maintaining our good neighbor relationship and we look forward to providing employment, contributing to the Carroll County economy and delivering clean and efficient energy to the region and beyond."
