Advanced Solutions Life Sciences Unveils BioAssemblyBot and TSIM Lab Quest Workstation

Ground-breaking Robotic and Software Solution to Design, Print and Assemble 3D Tissue Structures

LOUISVILLE, KY--(Marketwired - August 01, 2014) - Advanced Solutions Life Sciences, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Advanced Solutions, Inc., is proud to announce the launch of the next generation in 3D printing: The BioAssemblyBot™ and TSIM™ Lab Quest tabletop workstation.

BioAssemblyBot (BAB) and TSIM Lab Quest is an integrated workstation that empowers Physicians, Researchers, Engineers, and Scientists to design, visualize, collaborate, simulate, and analyze 3D virtual models of complex tissue structures. Starting at $159,995 (USD), the patent pending innovation advances the current capability of 3D printing to also enable Biological Tissue Assembly (BTA), a key step in realizing functional biological structures for human purposes. Utilizing a six-axis robot arm, the BioAssemblyBot workstation provides "surgeon-like" precision in building 3D tissue structures. Up to ten independent delivery systems can be loaded in the workstation during a single print run, enhancing the range and scope of assembled structures. President and CEO, Michael Golway, P.E., said "Our Lab Quest workstation allows researchers and scientists to design and assemble tissue structures with a speed and fidelity, previously unattainable." He went on to say "We are able to treat Biology as an Information Technology with the BioAssemblyBot/TSIM innovation, and as a result we will realize the next stage of exponential growth in performance of fabricated biological tissue structures."

The Digital Prototyping workflow within TSIM (Tissue Structure Information Modeling) allows users to enhance the precision and functional specifications of any tissue structure design. Visual feedback, in terms of tissue structure integrity, deformity, profusion effectiveness, expected biological output, and fabrication time, are some of the benefits of using TSIM. TSIM also supports a comprehensive material data management system (DMS) which provides the ability to define, create, query, update, administer, and attach data attributes (e.g. cell type, viscosity, etc.) to objects within the model. TSIM then translates the precise 3D coordinates of the tissue structure model and attributes (e.g. cell layers, types, locations, etc.) to the BioAssemblyBot. "TSIM and BAB provide investigators and practitioners unparalleled capabilities to design and fabricate biological constructs that mimic natural human tissue," added Dr. Stuart Williams, Director, Bioficial Organs Program, University of Louisville.

James Hoying, PhD for the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute, says, "with TSIM, my team can minimize empirical efforts writing scripts and troubleshooting print-runs: I can create the desired cellular structure, manipulate, instruct the printer what material to be printed and the integrated system handles the rest, fabricating in real space the object I created in 3D computer space. This is a wonderful, enabling platform for my work."
