MCLEAN, VA--(Marketwired - March 04, 2014) - Haystax Technology, Inc. integrated its DS7 cloud-based suite of application solutions with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Joint Regional Intelligence Center (JRIC) to enhance security during the 86th Academy Awards. The Haystax DS7 solution includes apps that supported the field intelligence teams and were used in conjunction with the LAPD high-definition mesh network camera system to monitor multiple Oscars-related functions and parties, including events taking place before and after the awards ceremony on Sunday, March 2.
"High priority events such as the Oscars and the Super Bowl demonstrate the robust capabilities found in Haystax DS7 solution suite," said Anthony Beverina, President, Public Safety & Commercial Business, Haystax. "We are proud to work with the LAPD and law enforcement agencies throughout the country to create connected and secure communities. Our innovation resides in the ability to fuse and analyze disparate information and to present it through uncluttered yet interactive views that provide context to critical operations. We can do this in days, not months."
Security at the Academy Awards increased after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and requires the most intense protection of all Los Angeles's red-carpet events. Hundreds of officers are put on Oscars detail, including bomb technicians, hazmat teams and canine units.
The Haystax DS7 connected the LAPD and the JRIC by providing a single source for data collection, prioritization, presentation and analysis. DS7 apps were accessed and monitored onsite, allowing numerous streams of information from news and social media sources to be analyzed for real-time review for threat monitoring. Additionally, the LAPD was able to overlay their special operations map in to the DS7 geo-monitor to show and organize road closures and police checkpoints, as well as deploy tactical teams during the event.
