AdvancedTCA Summit Europe 2007 Spotlights Standard Platform for European Telecom Industry

Intel, Alcatel-Lucent, RadiSys and Motorola Executives to Deliver Keynote Addresses on Growing Importance of AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA for Telecom Equipment

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - August 16, 2007) - AdvancedTCA Summit Europe will mark the international emergence of AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA as standard platforms for communications equipment. The inaugural European summit will focus on creating standards-based telecom equipment. Held at the Disney Newport Bay Club near Paris on September 18-19, AdvancedTCA Summit Europe brings attendees practical, up-to-date information on using AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA for reducing equipment cost and development time, and making equipment more flexible and more maintainable.

The summit will provide European telecommunications organizations with strategic opportunities to gain exposure to the technology and its developers, vendors, and users. Produced by Conference ConCepts, AdvancedTCA Summit Europe will feature presentations, exhibits, and tutorials from the industry's leading firms, including Intel, Motorola, Kontron, RadiSys, and many more. Online registration is open now at www.euroatcasummit.com.

"AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA are strategic technologies for many of the European TEMs," said Lars Johan Larsson, Conference Chairperson. "AdvancedTCA Summit gives them an opportunity to expose their organizations to the whole ecosystem of specifiers and vendors. For the first time in the history of standardized boards, we have a European summit to provide a meaningful get-together for the entire ecosystem community."

AdvancedTCA Summit Europe keynote addresses will include:

Keate Despain, Director of Marketing, Modular Communications Platform Division, Embedded Communications Group, Intel -- "Adapt or Die: How Modular Platforms Deliver Breakthrough Services" -- Growth in Telecom is being driven by revenues coming through new services. The ability to introduce and rapidly scale out infrastructure to support these services are critical success factors. Keate Despain will discuss how TEMs and Service Providers are adapting, which is opening new opportunities across the entire supply chain as they move to open standards-based platforms.

Franck Jouenne, Computing Systems & Industrialization Director, CTO Office, Alcatel-Lucent Convergence Business Group -- "Alcatel-Lucent IT Platform for Telecom Applications: Building on the Experience from a Pioneer" -- Alcatel-Lucent has developed a Convergence Platform Strategy, creating common platform based on the ATCA standard for all carrier-grade telecom functions. ATCA has improved time-to-market, operating expenditure, reliability, footprint and scalability. Franck Jouenne will describe how this transition to an open architecture is reaping rewards for Alcatel-Lucent and its customers.

Paul Virgo, Director of Marketing, Motorola -- "Get Out of Your Comfort Zone: Taking MicroTCA Beyond Telecom" -- MicroTCA has the potential to be a key technology beyond its origins in telecommunications, but several challenges must be addressed before it is more widely adopted. Paul Virgo will start with the relevant application spaces and their technology requirements, and go on to discuss current initiatives designed to adapt MicroTCA to a wide range of applications, such as manned and unmanned military vehicles, commercial transportation, and externally located environments.

AdvancedTCA/MicroTCA technology is strategic to the many telecom equipment manufacturers who are located in Europe. AdvancedTCA Summit Europe is the conference for project leaders, developers, marketers, procurement specialists, and others to learn everything about the standards at a single event. Attendees will learn about the status of standardization, new technologies, and new products, and will also be able to offer feedback on requirements for implementation of their technology and services. Users that have made the strategic decision to adopt AdvancedTCA/MicroTCA will be able to meet vendors, and discuss their own interests and requirements, and the future evolution of the standards.

AdvancedTCA Summit Europe is the only European conference dedicated entirely to the AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA platforms for telecommunications. The Summit features tutorials, workshops, paper and panel sessions, keynotes, and exhibits. Subjects include hardware, software, infrastructure, applications, standards, interfaces, design methods, user feedback, and market research. It is produced in cooperation with PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers' Group), CP-TA (Communications Platforms Trade Association), SCOPE (network equipment providers), SAF (Service Availability Forum), and the Ethernet Alliance.
