Advent Construction Director Dhruv Jog Discusses His Company's Fast Success

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - February 16, 2011) - Profiled in February's issue of African Business Review, the success experienced by Advent Construction, Tanzania's second-largest building contractors, could be termed as remarkable.

"Since 2005, we have seen 500 to 600 percent growth -- Tanzania's market has grown incredibly fast," says Dhruv Jog, Director of the Dar es Salaam based company since 2005.

Advent works primarily in Dar es Salaam but also elsewhere in Tanzania and eastern Africa. Among the 11 projects in process is one of the largest service stations in Dar es Salaam as well as the head office of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) in an up-country district.

Advent has spent $3 million in the past two years on upgrading equipment, which includes computer programmes for the office and machinery. It also aims to invest a further 1.8 million in the first half of 2011 in upgrades, and if a possible large project goes ahead, this will increase to over $5 million.

In addition to this, the company has put aside $2 million for constructing its own new corporate building, with the property and yard having already been purchased. A six-storey building is due to begin construction in two or three months' time to house the ever increasing number of staff.

Over the next 18 months, Advent will look further into quarrying and manufacturing opportunities and plans to apply for ISO accreditation. If successful, it will become the first company in Tanzania to have this accreditation.
