Advice for Rehab Vet Lindsay From One Who's Been There

Reformed Party Girl Warns of Life in the Fast Lane

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - February 2, 2011) - Jennifer Wilde's life wasn't too different from the path being taken by Lindsay Lohan.

She was the daughter of a real estate tycoon who wanted for nothing, except maybe a bigger movie career and more cocaine. From the time she was a teen-ager, she was wrapped up in the lives of the rich and famous -- dating actors like Robert Carradine, going to parties at the Playboy Mansion and doing a lot of drugs. As the years went by, she saw close friends drown in a sea of drugs, she romanced famous and not-so-famous men who never really loved her, and saw her own life reduced to an aimless hunt for the next high.

Her advice for folks like Lindsay -- whose third stint in rehab ended with criminal assault charges -- and some of the other celebs who make the fast lane attractive to millions of young girls is to grow up and focus on something other than their own immediate gratification. Wilde hit Hollywood when she was still a teenager, and she was hell-bent to live up to her name.

"I went to Hollywood when I was a kid, and I met all these stars, producers and directors, and all I saw was the glitz and the glamour," said Wilde, author of the memoir "From Life in the Hollywood Fast Lane to the Untouchables of India" (www.hollywoodfastlane.com). "But the real evil isn't on the streets -- it's inside yourself. Being self-centered and focusing only on yourself is the bigger evil. When you have money in your pocket, a limitless supply of drugs and friends who are happy to spend time with you (as long as you're buying or have a cool place to live), it feels like it will last forever, but it never truly carries you that far. At some point, you have to shift your focus to things that matter -- family, friends, your own spirituality and those who love you for who you are, and not what you can do for them."
