ADVISORY: OFL President Sid Ryan to Join Peel Teachers' on the Picket Line

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 5, 2015) - Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) President Sid Ryan will be joining OSSTF District 19 President Mike Bettiol and striking Peel high school teachers on the picket lines on Wednesday, May 6, at 10:00 am. After a brief stop at the picket lines at the Peel District School Board building, Ryan will accompany Bettiol to visit striking teachers walking the line at Turner Fenton high school.

"Peel teachers are fighting for the learning conditions of high school students across the region. They are standing firm against proposals that would threaten educational quality and take Ontario's school system backwards," said Ryan. "Workers across Ontario are supporting these striking teachers because we reject the false choices that the Wynne Government has put before us. Wynne wants to force Ontarians to choose between healthy schools and public transit, municipal infrastructure versus public hydro. These striking teachers in Peel, Sudbury and Durham are on the front lines in a fight for a better Ontario."
