ADVISORY: OFL to join picket line with striking workers at U of T

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - March 4, 2015) - On Thursday, March 5, 2015, the Ontario Federation of Labour President Sid Ryan, along with student, labour and community supporters, will join striking educational workers at the University of Toronto on the picket lines to demand a fair contract from the University.

WHAT: Solidarity Rally for CUPE 3902
WHEN: Thurs, March 5 at 9:30 p.m.
WHERE: King's College Entrance, University of Toronto (gate at the corner of College St. and King's College Rd.)
WHO: OFL President Sid Ryan and striking members of CUPE 3902
PHOTO/VIDEO OPPORTUNITY: Loud, boisterous rally will provide audio and visuals for all media.

"This strike has exposed the ugly truth that a prestigious institution, like the University of Toronto, has premised its entire operation on the exploitation of precarious workers," said OFL President, Sid Ryan. "In refusing to allow government cuts to higher education to be downloaded onto educational workers and students, CUPE 3902 is at the forefront of the fight against austerity and is defending public post-secondary education."

CUPE 3902, representing educational workers at the University of Toronto, went on strike last week to secure a contract that promotes the best possible learning conditions for students and fair working conditions for workers.
