Unlike traditional mobile devices that carry a risk of igniting a spark, the 10.1-inch Aegex tablets are purpose-built intrinsically safe, meaning they are incapable of igniting a fire or explosion. They can be deployed in multiple zones of hazardous locations where high concentrations of flammable gases, vapors or dusts are present, such as oil and gas operations. The tablets will be universally certified for UL C1D1, ISA C1D2, ATEX Zone 1, and IECEx Zone 1 HazLoc areas.
The Best Practices conference in Houston, which highlights innovative ideas for all facets of the oil and gas industry and features George W. Bush as a special guest, will include workshops on the "integrated digital oilfield." This concept encompasses the ways in which new technologies -- such as Aegex intrinsically safe tablets are bringing cloud computing and real-time connectivity to oil and gas operations.
