Aequitas Capital Appoints R. Scott Wood as General Counsel

Alternative Investment Management Firm Continues to Enhance Its Executive Ranks


PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - Mar 31, 2014) - Aequitas Capital, a Portland, Ore.-based alternative asset management company, announced that R. Scott Wood has joined the firm as General Counsel.

Mr. Wood is responsible for driving the firm's legal strategy and managing the day-to-day operations of the legal team. He has extensive experience providing counsel to organizations regarding employee relations, contracts, finance, corporate and transactional matters, and corporate governance matters.

Prior to joining Aequitas, Mr. Wood served as General Counsel for Oregon-based Holiday Retirement, the nation's leading independent living provider for seniors. Mr. Wood served as General Counsel for Golfsmith Golf & Tennis, a premier golf retailer in the United States and Canada, which he helped take public in 2006. He also was Associate General Counsel and Vice President of Information Technology at FranklinCovey Co. Before entering business law, Mr. Wood was a litigator at the firm of Epperson & Rencher P.C. (now Epperson & Owens) in Salt Lake City.

Mr. Wood is a member of the Oregon, Texas and Utah Bar associations. He received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Brigham Young University (BYU) and a Juris Doctorate from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU.
