AER Responding to Waterfowl Incidents Reported in the Athabasca Oil Sands Area


CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Nov. 4, 2014) - The Alberta Energy Regulator is responding to reports of waterfowl coming into contact with oilsands mining infrastructure, including tailings ponds, in the Athabasca oilsands area.

The number of waterfowl and the extent of the impact have not been confirmed.

All appropriate authorities have been notified.

The AER is investigating these reports and ensuring companies in the area are taking all steps to respond appropriately. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
