Aerohive Customer Columbus Vegetable Oils Wins Managing Automation 2009 Progressive Manufacturing 100 Award

Packaged-Food Processing Company Honored for Streamlining and Automating Inventory and Order-Fulfillment Process With Aerohive Wireless LAN

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - June 11, 2009) - Aerohive Networks, creators of the award-winning cooperative wireless LAN (WLAN) architecture, announced today that customer Columbus Vegetable Oils (formerly Columbus Foods), a packaged-food processing company, has been named a winner in the fifth annual Progressive Manufacturing 100 Awards (PM100). The PM100, awarded by Managing Automation Media, honor best-in-class manufacturers who have completed projects demonstrating mastery of the Progressive Manufacturing concept, which advocates manufacturing business transformation supported by advanced technology. Columbus Vegetable Oils was recognized for its Aerohive wireless LAN deployment. Winners will be honored tonight at an awards ceremony at the Progressive Manufacturing Summit 2009 in Sarasota, Fla. An in-depth case study of Columbus Vegetable Oils' selection and deployment of the Aerohive solution is available at

"It's an honor to be selected for an award that recognizes the use of technology to transform manufacturing business processes," said David Hodapp, IT director, Columbus Vegetable Oils. "Our deployment of the Aerohive wireless LAN has enabled us to streamline and automate our inventory and order-fulfillment processes. Aerohive is a trusted partner and we would like to thank them for all of their great work. Certainly, this award recognition wouldn't be possible without them."

In 2008, Columbus Vegetable Oils selected Aerohive's wireless LAN solution for its eight-and-one-half-acre manufacturing and warehouse facilities. Aerohive's innovative cooperative wireless LANs eliminate the need for costly wireless controllers by distributing the control functionality and data forwarding to each access point. The wireless LAN supports laptop computers, Wi-Fi-enabled cell phones, and hand-held wireless scanners that streamline and automate the company's mission-critical inventory and order-fulfillment processes. Columbus Vegetable Oils selected Aerohive over Motorola and Cisco on the basis of Aerohive's better value and the resiliency, security, and advanced features of the Aerohive wireless LAN.

"The key capabilities in Aerohive's wireless LANs, such as resiliency, security, and network management, are sought after by today's progressive manufacturers," said David Flynn, chief executive officer. "We are pleased to have played a role in Columbus Vegetable Oils' winning this prestigious award."
