AETN International Selects Maven Networks for Worldwide Digital Screener Delivery

Partnership Lets Global Media Company Save Time and Costs by Reducing Tape Distribution With DVD-Quality Internet Video

NEW YORK, NY and CAMBRIDGE, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 21, 2005 -- Maven Networks, Inc., a software provider whose technologies enable brand marketers and media companies to deliver compelling broadband video experiences, and AETN International, a division of A&E Television Networks, today announced that AETN International has selected Maven's new Intelligent Delivery System™ (IDS) to market and distribute programming previews to international affiliates and clients of A&E®, The History Channel®, The Biography Channel®, and Crime & Investigation Network™.

AETN International's core international business is twofold: the company licenses its channel brands overseas, thereby creating affiliated channels which license content from the AETN International program catalog; the company also manages its own international program syndication, in which programs from the AETN International catalog are marketed and licensed to non-affiliated TV channels. Throughout the year, AETN International promotes new programming to both affiliates and syndication clients, who request "preview screeners" of series and documentaries in order to watch the program before making a decision to license it.

Until now, AETN International fulfilled screener requests by creating physical VHS videotapes for mailing or overnight-shipment. With Maven's Intelligent Delivery System (IDS), AETN International now quickly and easily distributes highest-quality broadband video directly to the desktops of its affiliates and clients. By going digital with preview screener distribution, AETN International uses a more compelling method to market its new content while reducing the cost of duplicating and shipping VHS tapes to its international clients.

"Over the past few years, the combined international reach of programming from A&E, The History Channel, The Biography Channel and Crime & Investigation Network has grown to over 130 countries worldwide," said Michael Katz, Vice President Programming & Production for AETN International. "As a result of this growth, we began researching more cost-effective ways in which our affiliates and syndication clients could screen our programming quickly and easily.

"This partnership with Maven Networks addresses all our needs, allowing us to more efficiently and securely market our content worldwide, while also reducing our duplication and distribution costs. Since clients can immediately screen programs on their desktop, it eliminates the time lost to traditional mailing processes. What's more, our digital screener application using Maven already has won raves from our affiliate and client base."

"With over 80% of businesses and workplaces now with access to broadband, the traditional process of communicating via postal shipment of physical media is simply a poor option, as it's inefficient and does not provide any added impact," stated Hilmi Ozguc, CEO, Maven Networks. "Maven IDS allows media companies such as AETN International to revamp important business processes while delivering compelling DVD and HD-quality video directly to PCs and consumer devices. We're delighted to provide such significant cost- and time-savings to AETN International, while enabling them and other major entertainment firms to market and distribute their content to target audiences using the most compelling viewing experience available."
