Gaikai and Penguin Computing Join Adobe and Cloudera in Keynote Lineup for 2012 AMD Fusion Developer Summit

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 12, 2012) - AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the addition of keynote speakers David Perry, CEO and Co-Founder at Gaikai; and Phil Pokorny, CTO at Penguin Computing to its largest technical conference, the AMD Fusion Developer Summit (AFDS). The second annual three-day event will return to Bellevue, Wash. June 11 - 14, 2012 where AMD and industry leaders will delve into key strategies and market trends regarding next generation software developments, heterogeneous computing, and programming methods using industry-standard application programming interfaces such as OpenCL™, Microsoft DirectCompute, and C++ AMP.

Perry and Pokorny join the keynote lineup at AFDS alongside Tom Malloy, senior vice president and chief software architect at Adobe; Dr. Amr Awadallah, co-founder and CTO at Cloudera; Mark Papermaster, senior vice president and CTO at AMD; and Phil Rogers, corporate fellow at AMD. Perry will focus on how interactive proximity-based cloud computing can massively increase the reach of the gaming industry while Pokorny will provide an insider's perspective of future developments in HPC.

"The second annual AFDS will bring together top minds from the developer and computing communities as we focus on making heterogeneous computing accessible to mainstream developers and improving new end user experiences," said Manju Hegde, corporate vice president, Content, Applications and Solutions at AMD. "By bringing together academia, developers and the larger computing ecosystem in one event, we will continue to push open and industry standards for widespread adoption."

AFDS will feature more than 150 breakout sessions focusing on industry trends including: heterogeneous computing, gaming and computer graphics, innovative client experiences, multimedia processing, professional graphics and visual computing, programming languages and models, programming tools, security, and Web technologies.

Due to the success of the sold out inaugural summit last year, AFDS has expanded to take place at both the Meydenbauer Convention Center and the Hyatt Regency Bellevue to accommodate the more than 1,000 expected attendees. Registration for AFDS is now open and tickets can be purchased at the special pricing rate of $495 for general audience and $395 for alumni through May 20, 2012. In addition, AMD has developed a track session tool that allows attendees to build custom schedules and chart out their personal AFDS experience.
