After Scaffolding Snaps, a Construction Worker Falls 8 Stories and Survives, Reports Scaffolding Accident Attorneys

A Construction Worker Dismantling Scaffolding in Midtown Manhattan Plummets Eight Stories and Escapes Death, Explains David Perecman

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 5, 2010) - On Thursday, construction worker Jose Paulino survived an eight-story fall from scaffolding in New York.

Construction accident lawyer and scaffolding accident attorney, David Perecman, knows just how lucky he was.

"For him to have survived with not much more physical scarring than four cracked ribs, and reported injuries to his neck, shoulder and leg is nothing less than miraculous," said Perecman, a New York construction accident lawyer who has been practicing as a scaffolding accident attorney for over 30 years.

The 29-year-old construction worker was part of a construction crew that was helping to dismantle scaffolding at a 20-story building in midtown Manhattan. Paulino plummeted from the building when a plank snapped under his feet. Paulino then fell from the 16th floor where he was working and landed on his back on scaffolding off the 8th floor.

He celebrated this Christmas in a hospital bed at St. Vincent's Hospital.

Most recently, construction workers had performed facade repair on this building. The New York City Buildings Department ordered the construction company, Dry New York, Inc., to stop all work at the site. As of the day of the accident, the building, located at Eight Avenue and 38th Street, had 47 open violations, also according to the official website of the Buildings Department.

"This was a very, very lucky construction worker," added scaffolding accident attorney, Perecman.
