AfterCollege Uncovers Top Metro Areas for Entry-Level Physical Therapists

Research Combines Job Listings, Unemployment Data, Salary Averages and Apartment Rates to Give a Glimpse of the Most Favorable Metro Areas for Physical Therapists

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - October 2, 2009) - AfterCollege today announced its top 25 metro areas for physical therapists to begin their careers. The list was compiled by looking at entry-level jobs on AfterCollege and from 75 media companies and newspapers that partner with AfterCollege. JustJobs.com, a top job aggregator and job search engine, provided a comprehensive database of jobs from across the country. Salary.com, a leading source of salary data, provided data on average entry-level salaries for physical therapists. Apartments.com, a premier online rental resource representing millions of apartments from across the country, provided average rent prices for one-bedroom apartments. AfterCollege also gathered unemployment data for each area from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The result is a guide to help college graduates who are looking to begin their careers in physical therapy.

The list of metro areas includes:

1. Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
2. Baltimore, MD

The top metro areas for physical therapists comprise the second in a series of lists targeted to disciplines with high employer demand. "Staying true to our discipline-specific approach, we wanted to provide meaningful data to help graduates identify opportunities that are relevant to their field of study," said Roberto Angulo, CEO of AfterCollege. "A general list of cities is useful, but multiple lists that are relevant to students' majors are even more useful." Last month, AfterCollege published a list of top metro areas for entry-level electrical engineers. The company will publish additional lists in the coming months.
