Agilix Takes Online Learning Offline With New GoCourse Schoolmate

First Product to Address the Needs of Learning in Both Occasionally Connected and Disconnected Environments

OREM, UT--(Marketwire - July 16, 2008) - Agilix Labs, Inc. announced the extension of learning solutions to unserved and underserved markets with the introduction of its GoCourse Schoolmate product, a self-contained client-server learning system that supports education initiatives in situations and environments with limited or non-existent Internet connectivity.

"This represents an extension of our GoCourse platform to address the needs of the 95% of the Earth's population that falls outside the reach of broadband access," said Curt Allen, CEO of Agilix Labs. "Emerging markets will for the first time enjoy an eLearning experience that isn't limited by the unavailability of Internet access."

Built on the same Microsoft-based code as its popular GoCourse Learning System, GoCourse Schoolmate is a complete client-server system that runs "out of the box" when deployed in rural and disconnected environments.

"We developed this product to address the needs identified by several local resellers in emerging markets," said Jim Ericson, vice president of marketing at Agilix. "While our partners will continue to deploy GoCourse under our hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) model, GoCourse Schoolmate provides them with a solution that promises inclusion and equality by extending their services to schools and institutions that don't have broadband access and to learners that were previously too expensive to reach."

The entire system can run on a single laptop computer that includes both the client and the server and allows for multiple accounts for both teachers and students. The system can also be delivered as a computer lab or learning kiosk.

"Education is crucial for the schools and institutions we will be reaching with GoCourse Schoolmate," said Allen. "We will be helping to deliver the 21st Century skills and competencies that will allow many of these students and entire communities to join and succeed in the global economy."

While Agilix has been following a vision that addresses "always learning, occasionally connected" scenarios, this is the first time they have deployed a product to address the needs of the disconnected learner.

"I realize it may be a bit startling for people to hear we are taking online learning back offline, but that is how we are going to provide a technology bridge for these learning communities. When broadband access becomes a reality, GoCourse will be there waiting to help connect these communities to the rest of the world," said Allen.

Beyond addressing the needs of emerging markets, Agilix has also identified military, prisons, and other market applications where the GoCourse Schoolmate product may provide a solution to online training and educational needs.

Agilix customers include schools and institutions, such as K-12 school districts, universities, government agencies, professional associations, and corporate training organizations that use GoCourse to author, deliver, and track comprehensive online courses.

GoCourse Schoolmate and the hosted GoCourse Learning System include authoring tools that allow any instructor or instructional designer to create rich and engaging courses with minimal effort. The combination of dynamic templates and simple drag-and-drop assembly methods supports the creation of course content and activities that are delivered in an immersive course player environment through either an Internet browser or an installed software client.

In conjunction with the release of GoCourse Schoolmate, Agilix is providing an early adopter program that will provide discounts to organizations that begin using GoCourse Schoolmate by the end of the year. Agilix is welcomes schools and institutions that are interested to contact an Agilix Certified Partner or to contact Agilix directly through its website.
