BEIJING--(Marketwire - Aug 29, 2011) - Agria Corporation (
China's 7th National Edible Corn Conference was jointly hosted by the National Edible Corn Association, National Research Center of Corn Processing, and the National Research Center of Corn Technology. 360 domestic and international corn seed manufacturers, processors and research institutions participated in this year's conference. A group of leading corn seed experts from China's research institutes and international companies evaluated edible corn seed varieties based on field performance and taste and awarded recommendations to the top four performing varieties entered. Agria's three seed varieties winning the award were: Jin Tian Nuo2000B, Jin Ke Tian183 and Jin Ke Tian158.
Xie Tao, Agria's Chief Executive Officer, said, "Participation at this year's national conference was very high, with 160 edible corn seed varieties entered by Chinese and international companies. This level of attention underscores how big the potential edible corn seed opportunity is. We are proud to have taken 3 out of the top 4 spots. We view these wins as further validation of the strength of the broader agricultural business we have been developing. Importantly, we have the sales and distribution channels, and customer relationships already in place needed to build on the higher visibility that comes with such national honors both in China and abroad."
