Agricore United Negotiates 2.5 cent per minute 'in-the-family' Plan for Members

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(CCNMatthews - July 6, 2005) - Agricore United (TSX:AU.LV) has reached an agreement to reduce its FarmLINK long distance rate, when FarmLINK subscribers call other FarmLINK subscribers, anywhere in Canada from 4.5 cents per minute to 2.5 cents per minute, effective September 1st.

"This will provide another major step in reducing farmers' annual long distance costs," says Wayne Drul, Chairman, Agricore United. "From our initial roll-out of the program in January 2002, at 6 cents per minute, members have appreciated this cost-effective program and more members are steadily signing up. With the distance most members are to major centres, long distance calling is a day-to-day business necessity, so any reduction in expenses is appreciated."

"Another important step we have taken is to extend eligibility of the program to family members of Agricore United members, ensuring that both business and personal calls receive the 2.5 cents per minute," says Glennys Perkins, Manager Member Services, Agricore United.

"If members are calling, 'outside' of the FarmLINK family, the 4.5 cents per minute rate will still apply," says John Chapman, President, EnsyncTelecom, the telecommunication supplier for the FarmLINK program. "In addition, all plan members will be able to receive free set-up and no monthly charges for a toll-free number to ring on their home telephone line with long distance charges of only 4.5 cents per minute, from any cell, pay or hotel phone. This can dramatically reduce expensive cellular long distance calls when they are calling home from outside of the cell phone's local calling area."

Agricore United members can receive more information on the program by going to the Agricore United web-site www.agricoreunited.com or by calling the member benefit hotline at 1-800-663-5793, ext. 1.
