Agricultural Institute of Canada Foundation Announces Renewed RBC Funding for Agricultural Scholarship

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 13, 2006) - The Agricultural Institute of Canada Foundation (AICF) announced today that a $50,000 donation from RBC Financial Group (RBC), through its charitable foundation, will enable the Douglas McRorie Memorial Scholarship to continue until 2011. Six scholarships will be offered annually to post-graduate students studying agricultural business, economics, finance or trade.

Established in 1990, the Douglas McRorie Memorial Scholarship has provided numerous scholarships to agricultural students across Canada who have chosen a business emphasis for their studies. The late Douglas McRorie, PAg, a past vice-president of RBC Royal Bank and the AICF, is remembered for his commitment and leadership to the agricultural sector across Canada.

"We are pleased to announce the continuation of our support for the Douglas McRorie Scholarship," said Brian Little, RBC Royal Bank's national manager for Agriculture & Agribusiness. "RBC is committed to being a leader in agricultural banking and agribusiness and we actively seek out ways to invest in tomorrow's leaders and innovators in the field of agriculture."

"The ongoing support of RBC is particularly welcome this year, as we continue to expand the Foundation's suite of scholarships," said Derrick Jamieson, PAg, AICF President. "Our goal is to continue to provide support for students who have dedicated themselves to academic excellence and show tremendous leadership qualities."

A formal presentation was made on Monday November 6, at the luncheon of the Agricultural Institute of Canada's Annual Conference, at the Fairmont Winnipeg, Manitoba.
