AGRIS Co-operative Announces a New Board President and Directors

CHATHAM, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 26, 2007) - The members of AGRIS Co-operative Ltd. are pleased to announce that their Board of Directors have elected Glencoe area farmer, Richard Tanner as its new President. Richard has served on the co-operative board since 1997. He is a past Vice President of the Orford Co-operative Board and past chairman of the Finance Committee. Also elected to executive positions were Paul Repko as Vice-President and David Malott, Secretary.

Four open director positions for the board were voted upon by AGRIS members at their annual meeting. Re-elected were John Sauve and Krin Dieleman along with newly elected directors Dennis Jack and Scott McGeachy, all to serve three-year terms.

Dennis Jack is from the Thamesville area where he farms 1500 acres with his wife Judy and son Jason, growing corn, soybeans, wheat, sugar beets and raising beef cattle. Dennis is a previous agriculturalist of the year winner for Chatham-Kent and has served as president of the Ontario Corn Producers, Kent Soil and Crop Improvement Association, Kent County Cattlemen's Association and is a lifetime member of the Ontario Institute of Agrologists.

Scott McGeachy farms 1000 acres in the Chatham area with his wife Shelia, two daughters Kate and Lauren, and son Ryan, growing tomatoes, peas, white beans, soybeans, seed corn and has a cow/calf operation. Scott has previously served as president of the Kent Federation of Agriculture, co-chairman of the Chatham Ethanol Consortium, provincial director for the Ontario Cattlemen's Association and chairman for the Junior Achievement Club of Chatham-Kent.
