AHFC Announces Availability of $12.5 Million in Grants and Tax Credits

ANCHORAGE, AK -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 23, 2006 -- Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC), in partnership with Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority (AMHTA) and Denali Commission (DC), announces the opening of the 2007 GOAL and SNHG Programs. These programs provide development funding for affordable housing in Alaska for individuals, families, seniors and persons with disabilities.

The following program funding is available:

Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program                   $2.1 million
HOME Investment Partnership Program                     $2.1 million
AHFC/Denali Commission Senior Housing Program           $5.3 million
AHFC/AMHTA Special Needs Housing Grant Program          $3.0 million

AHFC will provide workshops in Sitka, Bethel, Anchorage and Fairbanks over the next four weeks. See the schedule at (Workshops).

AHFC is a self-supporting public corporation with offices in 16 communities statewide. It provides statewide financing for multi-family complexes, congregate facilities, and single-family homes, with special loans for first-time home buyers, low- and moderate-income borrowers, veterans, teachers, nurses, public safety officers, and those living in rural areas of the state. AHFC also provides energy and weatherization programs, low-income rental assistance in 17 communities, and special programs for the homeless. Since 1986, AHFC has contributed nearly $1.5 billion to Alaska's State budget revenues through cash transfers, capital projects and debt service payments.
