SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA and SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 25, 2013) - AhnLab (KOSDAQ: 053800), a leading provider of information security products and services for consumers and enterprise business environments, today used the RSA Conference 2013 in San Francisco to formally announce the establishment of AhnLab North America in Santa Clara, CA. AhnLab North America's primary focus is providing B2B enterprise security technology that stops advanced persistent threats (APTs) and zero-day threats anywhere across the organization.
The company announced the appointment of industry veteran Brian Laing as director of AhnLab North America. Laing has more than 15 years of business and technology executive experience with companies like RedSeal Systems, Blade Software, and ISS. He has extensive experience in network security products ranging from security validation technology to IDS/IPS products.
"We announced our intention to enter the North American market last year at the RSA Conference. Today's announcement makes it official that AhnLab is now a part of the North America security market," said Philip Kim, president and CEO, AhnLab. "It's not just opening an office, but bringing in the right people to make things happen. We're pleased that Brian Laing will head North America marketing and operations."
AhnLab North America will market security technology solutions primarily to B2B network security customers through resellers and OEMs, and to consumer customers via retail and the web.
The company's network security product, the AhnLab Malware Defense System (MDS) appliance, offers comprehensive threat protection against today's evolving threats such as Advanced Persistent Threats (APTs), rapid malware recognition and remediation. It stops malicious network traffic and dynamic disruption of active security breaches in an instant. AhnLab MDS secures endpoints, servers, networks, and cloud resources with a single architecture and an integrated management platform.
For consumers, AhnLab is a pioneer in the anti-virus and malware protection industries in South Korea. Last fall, the company introduced the innovative V3 Click to the North America market. The V3 Click is a USB-enabled personal security appliance that features strong anti-virus prevention software and system tune up solution to help optimize computer performance. Additionally, the V3 Click automatically scans devices that are connected through USB, such as cell phones, cameras, USB flash drives and other BYOD products, for malware. The V3 Click is connected to the PC or laptop through a USB port to provide protection. This minimizes any demand on the PC itself.
