Ahura Scientific's TruDefender FT Selected as One of Top Three Products at PITTCON 2008 by Strategic Directions International

(SDi), a world leader in business intelligence for analytical and life science instruments, has named the company's recently launched TruDefender™ FT as one of the top three innovative new products at PITTCON 2008. SDi used the following criteria to select the products that earned this distinction: notable technical achievements; innovation in the product's analytical approach and packaging; and the demonstration of real commercial potential.

The top three products honored by SDi included a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) analysis system from Shimadzu Corporation; a spectrometer for the biopolymer and biotechnology markets from Horiba Jobin Yvon; and the TruDefender FT handheld Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer from Ahura Scientific, Inc. Weighing less than three pounds (1.4 kg) and designed to stringent military standards for ruggedness, TruDefender FT brings the precision of FTIR spectroscopy to field applications, with a spectral resolution equivalent to bench-top instruments.

Recognized worldwide as the premiere analytical conference, PITTCON 2008 drew more than 1,100 exhibiting companies from the analytical instrumentation and services industries, with total attendance at this year's event exceeding 19,500.
