Ahura's First Defender™ Awarded GSA Schedule

WILMINGTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 10, 2005 -- Ahura Corporation is pleased to announce that its award winning First Defender™ handheld chemical identification system has been recently granted a Federal Supply Schedule contract from the General Services Administration (GSA), simplifying procurement for federal agencies and other customers with authorization to purchase from the Federal Supply System. The GSA Schedules Program allows commercial firms to provide supplies and services at stated prices for given periods of time.

Ahura's contract under GSA Schedule 66, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Clinical Instruments, General Purpose Laboratory Instruments and Services, is for the contract period September 29, 2005 -- September 29, 2010. GSA contract awards enable government agencies to more easily purchase from contract holders, by simplifying procurement procedures, eliminating the need for RFPs, reducing lead times and lowering administrative costs. Ahura Corporation's GSA contract number is GS-07F-6099R (Schedule 066).

First Defender is a revolutionary handheld Raman instrument used for the identification of unknown liquids and solids by military and civilian first responders. First Defender sets the standard for accuracy, applicability, durability, ruggedness and usability, far exceeding anything else available for instant onsite chemical identification. Based on Ahura's patented OpticalEngine™ technology and DecisionEngine™ software, First Defender offers superior performance and is extremely easy to use.

First Defender is ideal for emergency situations demanding a rapid assessment of potentially hazardous materials including toxic industrial chemicals, explosives, chemical warfare agents, and narcotics. With the built-in DecisionEngine software, it provides the first spectroscopic chemical identification system with the ability to identify not only chemicals using the on board signature library but mixtures of chemicals too. This mixture analysis capability gives First Defender an effective library of billions of possible combinations and concentrations. These results are available instantly even when the material is diluted or mixed with benign substances.
