AIDS Services Foundation Orange County Celebrates the Success of the 30th Annual AIDS Walk Orange County

IRVINE, CA and SANTA ANA, CA--(Marketwired - May 17, 2016) -  AIDS Services Foundation Orange County (ASF) is celebrating the overwhelming success of its 30th annual AIDS Walk Orange County! The ever popular event was held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at William R. Mason Regional Park in Irvine, CA. This year's theme for the walk was "Reclaiming the Eighties." The pleasant California weather made the event a fantastic time for all 1,200 attendees.

Participants relished in eighties-themed fashion, costumes, music, and a variety of speakers, who shared community initiatives with respect to HIV/AIDS prevention and support. In addition, participants enjoyed carnival-style games, as well as food and various refreshments throughout the day.

"It really was a remarkable event," said Philip Yaeger, CEO and Executive Director. "I've been with ASF since the 90s, and it's been incredible to see how it's grown over the years. The 30th Annual AIDS Walk was a fantastic milestone, and we look forward to many more great things to come."

The proceeds raised from this event amounted to $350,000 and will be used for further advancements within the Orange County community in regards to the support and prevention of HIV/AIDS. AIDS Walk Orange County will also be allocating funds from the event to local beneficiary organizations who endeavor to provide housing, nutrition, transportation, emergency financial aid, education, counseling, and preventative services to both individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS.

"We are overwhelmed and so grateful for the generosity and hard work from everyone that was involved in dreaming up and executing such a rewarding day," said Yaeger. "Without our donors, volunteers and participants, the walk wouldn't be possible, so we owe the success to them."
