AIDS Services Foundation Welcomes 25-Year Nonprofit Veteran

ASF Furthers Strategic Expansion With Addition of Seasoned New Hire

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - Aug 29, 2016) - AIDS Services Foundation Orange County (ASF) -- a nonprofit AIDS service organization that has helped more than 8,000 people living with HIV and AIDS in Orange County since 1985 -- today announced the addition of David C. Piazza to the organization. With more than 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, particularly in the area of fundraising, Piazza will not only be an invaluable asset to ASF, but his hire signals the start of a planned strategic expansion that will strengthen the foundation's leadership team.

"I am not exaggerating when I say we feel incredibly fortunate to have David join our team," says ASF executive director and CEO, Philip Yaeger. "David brings the perfect combination of skill, excellence, compassion, enthusiasm, personal connection and generosity to our team. I look forward to working with him and welcoming more people of his caliber onto our leadership team."

Over the last few months, ASF has taken great strides towards improving and transforming the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS in Orange County. With an increase of meal deliveries, the launch of a discounted pharmacy program and the onboarding of a registered dietician and certified diabetes educator, ASF is expanding its services and reach in Orange County. The addition of Piazza marks the next phase of that growth.

"In 1996 I returned to my hometown of Philadelphia after a 15-year absence to discover that the vast majority of my friends were gone -- they had lost their lives to HIV/AIDS," says Piazza. "The sadness, loss and grief still lives with me today, which is why I'm so passionate about and grateful for the opportunity to work with ASF. I get to honor their memory as well as the memory of thousands of men and women who left this world too soon."

Piazza began his training in nonprofit fundraising more than 25 years ago, while a Benedictine monk at his alma mater, St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology. Since then, he has worked for a number of nonprofit organizations throughout the United States as a consultant or directly as a full-time development professional of the agency. In his 10 years in Southern California, Piazza has worked for New Haven Youth & Family Services, an organization for at-risk teenage boys, and Toward Maximum Independence, an organization providing services for people living with disabilities. As a consultant, he has designed successful annual giving and capital campaigns for nonprofits from Pace University School of Law in New York City, Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago and the Phoenix Art Museum. Piazza is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and a member of the ManKind Project (MKP) USA, where he previously served on its national board of directors. He was also the 2015 recipient of the MKP Ron Herring Award for Mission of Service to the Community.

"It is a privilege to have been chosen by ASF to help serve its leadership team," says Piazza. "In Orange County, there simply is no competition. AIDS Services Foundation is a provider of services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the county, and their breadth and depth only continues to grow."
