AIDSbeat XX: Toronto's Legal Community Celebrates 20 Years of Rock in Support of Canadian AIDS Research

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Oct. 23, 2015) -

What: Friday, October 23rd, The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR) will be hosting AIDSbeat XX. Celebrating 20 years of rock and roll in support of AIDS research, AIDSbeat brings together Toronto's legal community for a night of music and celebration.
This battle of the bands-style competition will feature seven bands comprised of Toronto lawyers. The People's Choice award will go to the band raising the most money on-site.
Since AIDSbeat began in 1995 more than $3,000,000 has been raised by Toronto's legal community in support of HIV and AIDS research.
Who: AIDSbeat Founder Patricia Olasker of Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg will be joined by the AIDSbeat Committee Co-Chairs Gord Capern of Paliare Roland and David Palumbo of Baker & McKenzie.
Attended by approximately 1,000 legal professionals representing nearly 40 law firms.

Why: Today, one in 120 Torontonians is HIV positive. More 71,300 Canadians are living with HIV, with numbers increasing in priority populations across the Country. There is no cure for HIV/AIDS.
