Air Botswana Building Foundations for International Success Featured in February's Issue of African Business Review

NORWICH, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Feb 29, 2012) - Air Botswana is undergoing a massive transformation. Founded in 1988 by an Act of Parliament, the airline has a mandate to operate scheduled services domestically and regionally.

But as of later this year, that right will no longer be exclusive as Botswana is endorsing an open sky philosophy, in keeping with policies elsewhere in the world.

General Manager Sakhile Reiling explains that the airline is in a period of aggressive growth and expansion, which includes a strategic improvement plan for all areas of the business.

"We have a number of phases to our turnaround strategy. Firstly, we must get compliance and staffing qualification levels sorted out. Secondly, in line with our expansion, work on infrastructure will need to be done in terms of machinery such as aircraft and equipment.

"The third part will focus on buildings etc, such as buying another hangar to hold more aircraft -- but it is something we have not established at this early stage."
