Air Canada Orders 45 C Series Jets!

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 17, 2016) - "This is an example of one Canadian company stepping up to the plate to buy a great product that's a market leader and I couldn't be happier," said an ecstatic IAM Canadian General Vice President Dave Ritchie.

Ritchie was reacting to the announcement by Air Canada that it has signed a letter of intent to purchase 45 C Series 300, 135-seat commercial airliners with options for 30 more. "This is great news for our members in Quebec and our members in Canadian aerospace," said Ritchie. "This was the deal Bombardier was looking for, recognition for a state of the art aircraft by the country's largest airline. Air Canada is to be complimented for its commitment with this announcement and it's a testament to our 4,500 members at Bombardier."

The Bombardier C Series is a family of narrow-body, twin engine medium-range jet airliners. The C Series models, are the 110 seat CS-100 which first flew in September 2013 and awarded certification December 2015, and the 135 seat CS-300 which first flew in February 2015 is expected to enter service in 2017.
