Air Canada Pilots Association Welcomes New CEO

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 29, 2016) - Captain Geoff Wall, Chair of the Master Elected Council of the Air Canada Pilots Association (ACPA), and Captain Ian Smith, President of ACPA, are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Milt Isaacs as its inaugural Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1, 2016.

Mr. Isaacs is a career financial officer and an experienced labour executive. He was President of the Association of Canadian Financial Officers (ACFO) for the past 11 years. The ACFO is a professional association and is the certified bargaining agent for more than 4,500 financial officers in the federal public service and at NAV CANADA. Mr. Isaacs is a professional accountant holding a professional accounting designation both here in Canada and in the United Kingdom. He is also a graduate of the University of Oxford. Mr. Isaacs is an advocate for transparency in public finance and a member of the growing global anti-corruption voice. He has appeared before the United Nations, Canadian Parliament and Senate Committees as a voice for greater government transparency and stronger anti-corruption legislations.

The new role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) was established by ACPA earlier this year, as part of a number of updates to its governance and Constitution.

"As CEO, Mr. Isaacs will manage the affairs and offices of the Association under the direction of the Master Elected Council, or MEC," added Captain Smith. "In addition, and in conjunction with the MEC Chair, he will be tasked with establishing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders, including senior government officials, as we push for change on issues that affect our members, such as fatigue regulations and international access to the Canadian market."
