RCN TV to Film Championship Basketball Games

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwire - March 12, 2010) -  RCN-Washington, D.C. (NASDAQ: RCNI), a hometown provider of high-speed internet, digital cable TV with high definition and unlimited phone service, announced that it will carry the Abe Pollin City Title Games scheduled for Sunday, March 14. The games will air on RCN TV on channel 8, as well as on DCTV on channel 10 and 11.

"We're really proud of our area's home-grown athletic talent and this is a great opportunity to bring local high school sports coverage to our customers," commented Richard Beville, RCN Washington, D.C. VP and General Manager. "Our relationship with our community is extremely important to us; we're proud supporters of a number of area sports programs including American University Eagles, Georgetown Hoyas, and George Washington University Colonials."

The Verizon Center will once again be home to the Abe Pollin City Title Games, formerly known as the City Title Games. They feature the top girls and boys basketball teams from the District of Columbia Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA) and the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference.

Elizabeth Seton vs HD Woodson, the girl's title game, will begin at 3pm, followed by the boy's title game at 5pm, which features Dematha vs. Ballou. Both games will be filmed by RCN TV and will be shown on RCN's local channel 8 (beginning Monday, March 15) and DC's Office of Cable Television's channel DCTV 10 and 11 (on Tuesday, March 16.)

"For over 40 years, RCN TV has been providing quality local origination productions such as area high school sports, including football, basketball, and soccer," added Beville. "We'll be adding their coverage of both games to our free on Demand library so family and friends unable to attend the game won't miss out."

The first boys City Title basketball game was held in 1957 at the Uline Arena. In 1997, the Title game moved to the Verizon Center in 2007, known at that time as the MCI Center. For ticketing information and more details, visit Verizon Center's website at www.verizoncenter.com.
