BOCA RATON, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 11, 2007 -- Following the recent announcement of its
successful completion of the Yozan Japan network optimization program,
Airspan Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ : AIRN ) today announced that it has entered
into a new service agreement with Yozan for the continuing optimization and
rollout of the network.
The new agreement is valued at approximately $2.3 million. Airspan is
expected to provide both additional network optimization consulting and
support services through to the end of April 2007. The service agreement
will include WiMAX systems consulting, project management, radio planning
services, training, and engineering support for Yozan's site selection and
preparation. Airspan will also make services available to support
installation, commissioning and maintenance by Yozan of the WiMAX-WiFi
network.
"Yozan has been very pleased with the performance of the equipment since
the optimization that took place in the third quarter 2006," said Mr.
Kiyoshi Ohata, President of Yozan. "The new agreement will help us to
deploy Airspan's equipment according to the best practices of the broadband
wireless industry. Airspan has had considerable experience in deploying
WiMAX networks elsewhere, and its knowledge of operators' practices will be
very valuable to Yozan as it continues to deploy services in Tokyo."
Commenting on the new agreement, Henrik Smith-Petersen, Airspan's President
Asia Pacific, said: "We are very pleased with the continuation of the
network development with Yozan, which remains one of our most important
